Sustainable Homes action group launching!

Are you interested in how to make your home more sustainable?

Transition Town Guildford are forming a Sustainable Homes action group so come along to our first meeting on Wednesday the 5th of March and help make it happen!

Be Prepared workshop and movie night

On the 10th of February 57 people turned up to a Be Prepared workshop in Glen Forrest organised by the Hills Sustainability Group.

Christine Hogan (leader of the Be prepared action group) facilitated an evening of problem solving and discussion on how to be prepared for and manage heat waves and bushfires.

If you  could not attend the workshop on Tuesday night, but would like to learn more, Transition Town Guildford is organising another evening “Be prepared: Heat waves, bush fires and floods” on Tuesday, 11 March, 6.00 pm, Stirling Arms Pub, 117 James Street, Guildford and will show the film Don’t panic” the ABC, Catalyst documentary aired in December 2012.

Transition Mount Hawthorn is born!

Fantastic news! On the weekend, the latest Perth metro transition group was born with eight people meeting to establish Transition Town Mount Hawthorn*.

Potential action groups are: waste, chooks, skill and tool share, verge gardens and stormwater capture. Plus plans are under-way to  replicate TTG’s ‘Sunny Side Up’ Chook project with an additional community network component, and a chook walk some time in late March.

Please share the good news with your friends in Mt Hawthorn and invite them to take part! 

The initiating group will be meeting again in a fortnight.
